Made in Bristol Gift Fair

One of the best things about relocating to Bristol has been becoming part of the city's awesome creative community. So many amazing artists live here, it's unreal. Made in Bristol is one of the best organisations for showcasing all that lovely talent - they run events, exhibitions and pop-up shops across the city, with an emphasis on emerging local designers. And this year I am proud to say I will be selling my wares at their Christmas Gift Fair!  The fair is located at Colston Hall, right in the heart of the city centre, it's free and there's a BAR. Perfect. It runs Saturday 29th November & Sunday 7th December: 10am - 4pm and Saturday 13th December: 10am - 3pm (I will be there for the first 2 dates only). Hope to see you there!

3 ways to wear - the Triangle Drop Earrings

It's almost the bank holiday - hooray! We're having friends over for a barbecue...fingers crossed the weather improves. Are you doing anything exciting? Whatever your plans here's a little style inspiration featuring the ever versatile triangle drop earrings in peach.

P.S. There's 20% off everything in my etsy shop today using the code BANKHOLIDAY

Happy Friday!

Wedding

way to wear - look three

Mix a smart playsuit with a printed jacket, I love this topshop bomber. Accessorize with a clutch and (hopefully) sunnies.

City break

3 ways to wear - look two

Arty trouser + a leather jacket + directional shoes = an edgy urban look. Sunnies = wishful thinking.

Barbecue

Untitled #9

A shirt dress paired with converse and sunnies (again, I know) makes for a laid back preppy look.

New arrivals

New this month...lots more pretty scallops in the form of playful semi-circle drop earrings and a new spangly glittering scallop necklace. Gotta love a scallop! I also have some cute triangle drop earrings. And I've been experimenting with new colours, totally out of my 'neutral' comfort zone, but totally awesome. I'd love to know what you think? And what other colours you would like to see?

Introducing the mama necklace

Anyone who knows me, or who reads this blog, will know how much motherhood has changed my life. So I thought I'd make something that celebrated that, and here it is - the mama necklace. A delicately engraved, hand lettered, mahogany necklace. A tribute to the most important ladies out there - the mamas. Where with pride :-)

To celebrate the mama necklace and mothers day I'm offering free shipping in my etsy shop until March 31st! Use the code MAMA31 at the checkout to claim.

Inspiration wall

Today, in a retro throw back kinda mood, I decided to make a little inspiration wall in my office. It was so much fun! I loved the process of arranging all the pretty bits and memorabilia that I've been collecting, and it beat spending a couple of hours on pinterest (only just though, I do love to pin). It's a mixture of the things that inspire me right now (spring palettes, prints and pattern and a whole lot of florals) and the things I find inspirational on a more general level (family, childhood, motherhood and WOmankind). Plus a valentine from Lizzie who is quite the budding artist!

Happy new year!

Wow, what a Christmas! Last summer I joined Notonthehighstreet (after deliberating about the hefty sign up fee for a year or so), it was hands-down the best business decision I've made so far. Things were a little slow at first but come October business started to pick up and by November I had more orders than I knew what to do with. Literally. I sold out, re-stocked, shuffled Elizabeth around, glued, sanded and filed until my fingers bled, packed orders, and cued in the post office daily for a total of 10,000 hrs (it felt like), until it was finally over. I also did 3 successful Christmas markets (and one unsuccessful one which will hence forth never be mentioned again). I was too busy (STRESSED) to take many photos but here's an IG of my stand:
 photo f4a0dcf0-0ad4-4ebb-a397-18d0c13985e9_zps619e1b6f.jpg
It was the most successful Christmas I've ever had and has given me oodles of confidence in my business, my products and myself. And the best thing? Lovely people posting lovely pics of themselves styling out their Jules and Clem. Here are two of my favourites - Jenny (@jennywdean) and Laura (@_g3)
So, it feels good to be starting 2014 in this positive place. I have lots of new ideas to work through and am excited to steer my business in a fresh direction. I haven't designed anything new since I was pregnant with Lizzie - the last year has been almost entirely dedicated to the business side of things, enjoyable in its own way, but I am so very ready to do something new. I'll share as much as possible on my blog and IG account. Stay tuned.

On holiday

Guatemala - our honeymoon and last holiday. This view is going to take some beating.

We are on holiday. Or rather we're moving house and then on holiday. The last few months have been a roller coaster; we found the house of our dreams, lost the house of our dreams and ultimately decided we needed a change. We're leaving the town we've called home for the last year for bigger (and hopefully better) things...Bristol! I am excited to be living a city again, and not just any city, the city I went to university in, the city which is still home to some of my best friends. But before that, a well over-due holiday. We're flying to Crete early next week to stay in a peaceful mountain retreat. Can. Not. Wait.

My shops will be offline from Friday 20th until Friday 4th October - today is the last day I will be taking orders. Repeat: get your orders in today or wait 2 weeks! *Shameless self promotion over*

It's Friday and that can only mean one thing...time for a new product! Welcome The Arrowhead Necklace. Oh yes, I'm still obsessed with all things geometric! This pretty necklace sits just below the collar bone and looks a treat over a shirt or peeping out from behind your autumnal layers. It's priced at £10 and available from my folksy and etsy shops.

Happy weekend!

Happy Friday kids!

New Etsy Shop!

It's Friday, E's at nursery and I'm at my desk. Happy days! This week I've been busily building my new Etsy store. I'm still a dedicated Folksy seller but I'm starting to see the importance of selling on as many platforms as possible. So, you can now find Jules and Clem on Not on the Highstreet and Dawanda. But I'm most excited about joining Etsy. The site is well designed with a pinterest feel and an interactive community. I'm looking forward to getting involved.

To celebrate I'm offering 20% off all Etsy orders for a week! Just use the discount code ETSY01 at the checkout. BOOM!

Me again

Having a baby undeniably changes your life, and for the better in my opinion. But there may come a day when you wake up and wonder where 'you' went.  This happened to me. I was so in love with my little one that I got a bit lost along the way. I found it hard to digest all the newness - new person, new life, new routine, new role - it was overwhelming just getting from day to day. I was happy, of course, how could I not be spending my days with little E, but I didn't do any of the things that used to make me me. One day, back in February I woke up feeling down and it didn't pass. I wrote this post about it. It took a while to figure it out but by making some changes I started to feel better. One of the most significant changes was creating time for myself. This is how I've been filling it.

1 - Jewellery. Making it, marketing it, selling it - I am excited about it all again. It's amazing what a good nights sleep can do - I feel like I have the energy to be creative for the first time since I can't remember when. Pictured is the pyramid necklace, the latest addition to my shop

2 - Reading. I already talked about this here but to recap: I love reading in bed. I treasure this ritual. Sometimes just the thought of my book, neatly tucked up by the side of my bed, is enough to get me through the day. Pictured is Heads and Straights by Lucy Wadham, part of the Penguin series celebrating 150 years of the London underground. I just bought this and cannot wait to start reading it.

3 - Fashion. Before I had Elizabeth I used to think about clothes a lot (possibly too much). I used to read fashion magazines and blogs, plan outfits in my head and actually look good (sometimes). The last 7 months have been spent largely in leggins and Matt's shirts. Elizabeth doesn't care, right? But I do. Something I used to get so much pleasure from has been almost completely missing from my life. So I bought Vogue, read my favourite blogs and went shopping. It felt SO good. Pictured are my new geomeric, monochrome GAP trousers. Two trends in one. Get in.

4 - Not pictured - time with friends. This weekend I'm visiting my bestie down in Bristol. I'm staying the night. Alone. No husband, no baby. We're going out, we might have a few drinks, a good time. It's been so long.

Happy weekend! What are you up to? I hope you're making some time for yourself whatever you're doing.

Shop update

I have finally found the time to photograph these Pyramid necklaces (they've been ready to sell since December!), thank you Elizabeth and your new found 1.5hr lunchtime naps! I'm finding product photography the hardest part of the process at the moment, as you can see from these photos I haven't quite got the hang of the white balance. Anyhow... The pyramids are made from 3mm acrylic, come in mirrored gold, mirrored silver and black and white. They are £8 and you can find them here. I do hope you like them.

Studio inspiration

January is over. I gave myself the month off after working hard in the run up to Christmas. No excuses now. There's new jewellery to be photographed, packaging to be revamped and a shop to be restocked. But first a workspace rethink. I have a corner of Matt's office all to myself. No Babies Allowed. It needs some TLC so I made a little inspiration board to motivate me.
